Our Farm

Raising Speckle Park Cattle Responsibly Since 2015

Speckle Park cattle impressed us as a breed as soon as we discovered them.  We did our research and due diligence and became one of the early adopters of the SP breed in Australia, registering our stud in 2015.

At first we were wowed by their beautiful coat and their dressing statistics, and over time with their low birthing weights and ease of calving.  They are a pleasure to breed and as we have gotten further on our journey of building our Speckle Park Stud we have fallen even more in love with their personalities - they are very social cows!

We farm with passion,  because we truly believe in the sustainable small-farm holistic model that we are creating. We believe it is becoming more and more necessary to move away from the large-scale, monocropping style of farming.  Consumers are becoming more sophisticated and they are already beginning to change their purchasing habits, demanding to know where their meat is from and how it was raised.

Our family chose this life and this particular breed of cattle and we continue to choose, daily, to balance family, the farm, work and life in general.  Farming is not the easiest path, especially setting up from scratch but it can be done, just watch us!

Like most farmers we consider ourselves caretakers, of our animals and our land and we take our business of raising cattle seriously.

Our Story

South West Victoria, Australia

Our story started in 2008 in central QLD with the unlikely clashing of 2 very different worlds, Rob the Australian farmer, working as a Mining Engineer and Suzy the New Zealand freediver, working as a Financial Planner.

As different as we were, we worked well together, bouncing ideas off each other and watching synergy in action.  In 2010 we tackled IVF with gusto and in 2011 we won the lottery twice with our beautiful twins.  As we watch them grow we witness hybrid vigour in front of our eyes.  We fondly call Max and Poppy our Anzac cookies and when they were younger their high-energy (X2!!) earnt them the nickname of Twinado.

We always dreamed of having a farm but you know, $! So we worked hard, saved, invested and never stopped dreaming. In 2015 we bought our farm.  There is so much more depth to our story, for another time.  We want our readers to understand our intense gratitude and appreciation for what we have, and I intend to share more on our blog.

All photos are taken on our farm, by us, with our Samsung phones, no filters required.  Please enjoy.
